weekly interrogation: Laura Hughes!

This week I bring you my lovely youngest sister, Laura! She goes to school at the Kansas City Art Institute during the school year, and during the summer she is my slave. (ok, not literally. But she pretty much does anything I tell her to) She's a very talented artist, so if you ever need to commission a piece she's your gal!

name: Laura Hughes

1.What do you “do”?
Art art art. More specifically, illustrations. I love to draw and paint, and making storieswith my pictures.

2. Why do you do what you do?
Its fun, relaxing, and the one thing that I'm good at. It also keeps me from being
criminally insane.

3.Where are you from?
Originally Fredericksburg, Virginia. Then I moved to Greensboro, North Carolina when I was fifteen. You can forget about the second part.

4. Favorite color?
Eggplant purple, and red.

5. Favorite food?
Pickles, almonds, Grandma's grilled cheese, and veggie burgers with expensive mustard.

6. Favorite shoes?
My pair of Minnetonka moccasin slippers. They are soooo warm. I've worn them almost every day of the past four winters even though they look funny on me. So sadly they are falling apart, but I will never forget the good memories we have had together.

7. Favorite place in the whole wide world?
I feel like I haven't been to enough of the world to be able to choose yet. Downtown Fredericksburg, and Ikea are close contenders though.

8. Favorite piece of playground equipment?
The pole you slide down. What fun.

9. Your funniest story?
So one day in eighth grade reading class, a certain boy sitting behind me was kicking and putting his hands on the back of my chair. He would not stop, so I turned around and pushed his hands off myself. He claimed that I had violently smacked him around, and several other certain boys backed him up as "witnesses". My poor teacher never had any control over the class, and in exasperation let them go to the office to testify, figuring they wouldn't be taken seriously because I was the model student. Well, a few minutes later, the principal came on the phone, calling me to his office. Then my teacher hastily explained the real situation. I remember hearing him say, "oh I see. This changes things." The certain boys didn't return for a very long time, and when they did, all of them looked on the verge of tears, and only came to collect their things because they had in school suspension for the rest of the week. The only other thing as funny is my Dad's glasses fogging up when opening the dishwasher.

10. Mac or PC?
Mac. I prefer computers that work.

11. Manual or automatic?
Bike riding is a great form of exercise, and very good for the environment.

12. What do you consider your best asset?
My boobs and my butt.

13. Guiltiest pleasure?
Animal Planet. Actually I'm not guilty about that. RIP Steve Irwin.

14. Biggest pet peeve?
People who don't wash their hands after using the bathroom. Also, loud gum-chewers who blow bubbles and do that thing where they stretch it out in front of themselves. Gross.

15. What do you consider priceless?
My stuffed animal collection.

16. If you could sit next to anyone on an airplane, who would it be?
J.K Rowling, no doubt. There is so much of the Harry Potter world/story that could not fit in the books, so you know. Plus she's kind of my hero.

17. What would you choose as your last meal?
Spaghetti…

18. What era in time do you connect with the most?
Well, I rather love the 1700s. What can I say? Nothing can quite do it for me than a powdered wig.

19. Your motto for life?
Live long and prosper

20. Best advice you can give?
Find something that you love to do, and to do it very well.

And just to prove how awesome she is, here are a couple examples of her work:
